We stopped down to help place Eggs for the Oregon Easter Egg Hunt with the Oregon Village Fire Department and the Oregon FreeMasons.
Over 5000 plastic Easter eggs were filled with candy two nights before, at the Masonic Lodge in Oregon, WI by the Freemasons. The Oregon Village Fire department picked them up Saturday morning and transported them to the Kiser Fireman’s Park, placing them for the children to find at 10 am.
At 10 o-clock, Fire Fighters sounded the horn on the fire engine sending the children from infants to 12 years old, scampering to pick up the candy-filled eggs.
There is a great deal of joy watching the little ones carefully pickup the eggs and place them in their bags! It reminds one of the inherent goodness of humanity!
This Easter Egg hunt has been a part of the Oregon traditions since as early as 1970, when that year about 40 youngsters took part in a Easter egg hunt. The youngster finding the most eggs got a prize. Also a special treat was to be found in two eggs each containing a Kennedy half-dollar.
This became an annual event for the Fire Department and the Oregon Free Masons in 2023 as they worked together sponsoring this event.
